Bellway is working on proposals for a new development on land to the south of Radwinter Road, Saffron Walden. The site has outline planning permission, and will provide much-needed housing for the area, built on sustainable and community principles.
We want to work with the local community to ensure your views are shared with us. This website will be the focus of our consultation – please register for updates so you are kept up to date as the consultation and planning application progress.
We held a drop-in event on Wednesday 23 October at the Saffron Walden Town Hall, where residents had the opportunity to meet the development team ask questions, and share their thoughts.

Our Proposals
- 233 sustainable, high-quality dwellings,
- A mix of two- to five-bedroom family housing, reflecting community needs, together with some bungalows,
- A total of 40% of homes will be affordable, which is council policy compliant,
- The development will provide generous open space, accounting for over 50% of the site,
- Biodiversity net-gain of at least 10% on the site, with existing tree belts and hedgerows retained, with new ponds, tree and hedge planting, and grasslands,
- Sustainable homes with EV charging points and solar panels,
- Site is in Flood Zone 1, so 0.1% chance of flooding
- The inclusion of a SuDS system to handle rainfall run off including attenuation ponds
- Contributions to health and education provision locally.
Once we have completed the consultation, considered the feedback given and amended our plans accordingly, we will be submitting a Reserved Matters Application to Uttlesford District Council.
